Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI) is close to the suburbs of Baltimore, Maryland just a half-hour drive from downtown Baltimore and about 35 miles north of Washington D.C.

Of Washington D.C.'s three airports, BWI is the second in number of international flights. The great thing about BWI is the competition in ticket prices, due to a couple of low-fare domestic airlines that have service at this airport. BWI has a large number of international flights and direct flights from the west coast.

BWI has five sections: A, B, C, D and E. Sections A and B were recently renovated to be combined, and section is used for international flights.

There are several parking options at BWI. The hourly parking garage is attached to the terminal and costs a maximum of $ 22 per day. The cheapest option to park is the long-term parking located on Boulevard Aviation, with a maximum cost of $ 8 per day.

BWI recently opened a town on Stoney Road and New Ridge Street, dedicated to rental car companies. There is a free shuttle that takes passengers from the airport to the office of the rental agencies. This shuttle picks up passengers on the lower floor of the BWI terminal.

Transportation Options in Baltimore

The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) offers bus, train and subway transportation services throughout Baltimore. Local buses offer service to BWI on Route 17, with stops at Patasco Stop of the Electric Train. Passengers using the bus or the electric train to BWI airport can use the free shuttle service to the airport. The fare for each ticket in one direction is $ 1.60. Passengers can purchase a One-Day Pass for $ 3.50 that they can use throughout the day and is interchangeable between all three MTA services.
